eBay Find of the Day: Niki Lauda's race-winning 1974 Ferrari 312 B3

Every year, each Formula One team on the grid designs a brand-new car and builds a handful of them for use at grands prix around the world. So what happens to the old ones? Well, the less important ones might get scrapped, unfortunately. The more important ones might find their way into museum collections. But then there's a whole class of collectors who buy them for use at historic racing events or private track days.

Those collectors lust after opportunities like this one: to own a grand prix-winning car driven by a World Champion for a team no less celebrated than Scuderia Ferrari. This 1974 Ferrari 312 B3 was the very same that Niki Lauda drove to the checkered flag at the Dutch Grand Prix and Spanish Grand Prix that year. And while it would have been worth more if those races had helped Lauda secure the championship that year, unfortunately, a series of DNFs relegated him to fourth place in the standings, returning the following year to win his first title.

Just the same, the car is now based in California, has been fully backed and certified by the factory, and is on sale now on eBay Motors with a starting bid of $1.25 million. Report: Ex-GM CEO Rick Wagoner delivers commencement speech, calls for humility

Former General Motors CEO Rick Wagoner offered sound advice to graduates of the Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond in the form of a commencement speech over the weekend. According to The Detroit News, the ousted executive told students to remember their values first and foremost, and that they should always protect their personal integrity above all else. In addition, Wagoner underscored the importance of humility as well, saying that while individuals can't control what life throws at them, they can determine how they react to situations both positive and negative.

It's difficult not to read into the executive's statements. Wagoner was asked to leave GM by the Obama Administration during the GM bailout but has gone on to chair the Duke Board of Trustees and serve on multiple corporate boards.

Wagoner also recounted how his time with GM shaped the course of his life and that of his family's life as a cautionary tale against over planning. Wagoner's career saw him travel from New York City to Brazil and back to the states during his time with GM. Finally, the executive urged VCU students to never be satisfied with the status quo, and to always push to find ways for their ideas to take root.

Report: Strong Wrangler, Liberty sales prompt Jeep to keep plant running over holidays

The only automotive plants from the Detroit Three that will be humming along straight through the holiday season are in Toledo, Ohio. As the birthplace of the Jeep brand, Toledo's fortunes rise and fall with the successes and failures of Chrysler's off-road marque, and this year, the automaker will be looking for volunteers to continue assembling its hot-selling Wrangler and Liberty SUVs.

According to Automotive News, no other plant operated by an American automaker will be working during the week between Christmas and New Year's Day. The Toledo plants are the only facilities building the Jeep Wrangler and Liberty, both of which are selling like hot cakes in 2011. With one month left of the year, Jeep has sold 111,045 Wranglers, up 29 percent over 2010. The Liberty, meanwhile, is up 36 percent to 60,523 units sold.
